Forest Frames

A Nature Conversation Focused Software Development Team

Welcome to the website of "Forest Frames", a 2024-25 NAU Computer Science Capstone team.

What is Forest Frames?

Forest Frames is a group out of NAU that is focused on developing software that helps provide and verify rarely cataloged ecological data. The overall goal is to gather data from these places through Citizen Science, where those local to those areas send in that data, and since incentives would be used, verification of this data is crucial to ensure fair compensation and data accuracy. The group's main goals are to:

  1. provide an application that allows users to record data at a GEDI satellite coordinate
  2. verify collected data through location verification and animal image recognition
  3. organize, format, and store the data which will then be used by researchers

This project was originally split up into two teams in the first semester (other team's original website can be found here); however, both teams merged back together in the second semester under the second team's name "Forest Frames".

The projects members, along with their mentor and sponsors, can be found here.
