STATUS REPORT 19 Sep 1997
TASKS COMPLETED
-
Changed meeting time from Mon, 3-5 p.m., to Tuesday, 2-5 p.m.. This
will allow us to meet before and after the teleconference with our client.
-
Consulted with Dr. Sagahyroon concerning lab computers to be used in ethernet
network. Permission was given to format machines to our needs, as
long as they remain usable to other students
-
Placed Rich Ames on group mailing list
-
Teleconference with Rich Ames - obtained following information concerning
the project:
-
Our problem description is accurate and acceptable
-
Determined use of ethernet network in testing and design would be helpful.
-
Can be programmed in C++.
-
Rich gave some examples of the network environment where our software product
should be useful.
-
Our team got a good feel for desired emphasis US Software places on the
project requirements,i.e. which requirements they consider essential and
should be robustly supported.
-
Matt Ericson obtained comprehensive documentation on the construction of
ethernet packets.
-
John Kobinski reported that software development packages available for
PC's were inadequate and we will use the RCS system provided by UNIX.
TASKS CONTINUED
-
John Kobinski continues to compile a list of current software products
that are comparable to our design project.
-
The team will review and incorporate Dr. Collier's comments on the Software
Development Plan and the Gantt Chart before submission to Richard Ames.
-
Rob Waltz continues to research ethernet packet troubleshooting.
TASKS STARTED
-
The team has divided the elements of the problem description between them
and will begin to create a detailed specifications document for each requirement.
-
Concurrently, the team has begun preliminary brain-storming towards an
architectural design concept.
