This section evaluates the brine management alternatives for the treatment train. The process is essential as this step manages the rejected brine from the advanced filtration step in the treatment process.
Brine Management Alternatives
The brine management alternatives that were considered were CST Aquastore Tanks, Lenntech Water Treatment Solutions Evaporation Ponds, and the Memsys Membrane Distillation System.

Brine Management Scoring Criteria
Each alternative for brine management was given a score from one to three. One being the least suitable alternative and three being the most suitable from the given criteria. The following table provides how each criteria was scored with the reasoning. It also provides the reasoning for the weighting of each criterion.

Brine Management Decision Matrix
Using the scoring criteria for brine management, the decision matrix for the management for the rejected brine was created to find the most suitable alternative for the treatment train.
