The area of concern consists of a former catfish hatchery and borrow-pit. The former hatchery is degraded and overgrown with vegetation. The wetlands will be used accommodate endangered species of fish from the Colorado River and the proposed lake will be created from the borrow pit and possibly used to raise sport fish to stock other lakes. The borrow-pit is located down-stream from the hatchery and was illegally filled with irrigation runoff water. The Tribe wants to remove non-native vegetation that creates a nuisance to the integrity of the wetlands and replace it with native vegetation. The project goal is to design a water distribution system fed by the CRIT Main Canal. The wetlands will accept the initial stock of water and will then be transferred to the borrow-pit projected lake site. Drainage will then be fed back to the CRIT Main Canal.
It should be noted that this goal is general in its proposal, however when the team has the opportunity
to visit the site more often, specific parameters will be addressed. Our project proposal document
provides information to successfully assist in the restoration of the area. The team understands that
cultural issues may play a role in the design and development of the proposed wetlands. Therefore it
is Enviro-Corp's utmost concern in accommodating the Tribe for the proposed project.
